about

"The Drift" is a track that I wrote around the time of our first Mount Crushmore EP titled "Hourglass". Because the song didn't fit the concept of the record, I decided to go into recording it with an open mind stylistically, and try to break from my usual mold in music.

When listening to this track, picture this scene: "A girl is walking down a California beach at night, while talking on the phone with a man who is pleading with her. He tells her he will be there for her during the ups and downs, while reminding her that she knows where he is anytime she needs anything. At the end, he realizes that his pleas are in vain, but still tells her that no matter what she decides to do, or he goes, a part of him will always be with her."

Hope you enjoy the tune, look forward to more conceptual and experimental projects I will release on jawhouserecords.com.

lyrics

When the wind blows cold and south of shore,
I'll be there to stay.
A pyramid of what was left before,
I'll start to drift away,

You're on my mind,
Am I running out of time?
You're on my mind,
Am I wasting my time?

When the rain washes you far from home,
You know where I'll be.
A paradox of where we used to roam,
Would you roam to me?

You're on my mind,
Am I running out of time?
You're on my mind,
Am I wasting my time?

As I walk along this lonesome road,
Don't you know?
There's a part of me that's staying here,
Wherever you may go.
